Madeline Johnson, CMB: 2025 Hall of Fame Inductee

Madeline is a mortgage banking professional with over 35 years of experience specializing in secondary and capital markets, strategic planning, and business development in the mortgage finance industry.  She is Risk Policy Director at Freddie Mac where she has Enterprise Risk purview over Top Freddie Mac counterparties including seller/servicers, mortgage insurers and reinsurers.

Prior to joining Freddie Mac, she was an Executive Financial Consultant at Milliman.  She has held previous positions specializing in Fannie and Freddie engagements as executive consultant with Newbold Advisors, a financial services consulting firm. Prior to Newbold, she was vice president, capital markets and GSE relations at United Guaranty, where she led the capital markets/GSE functional area.

Madeline held executive positions in capital markets and GSE Relations for Triad Guaranty. Prior to joining Triad, Madeline was senior consultant with Mortgage Dynamics, Inc., specializing in risk management. Previously, she was vice president and assistant director, secondary marketing for First Advantage Mortgage Corporation in Columbia, Maryland.

She is past Chairperson of MBA’s Certified Mortgage Banker’s committee and was president of the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) of Metropolitan Washington in 2004 and has served on the board as well as several committees for the past 20 years, including the CMB Committee Chair from 2004 to 2020. 

Madeline was awarded the CMB designation in 1998 and the National MBA’s CMB Society Fellow Award in 2003. She was the Associate Member of the Year for MBAMW in 2017.
