Committees


Members are the lifeblood of MBA/MW's programs and activities. Through active involvement in committees and task forces, our members play a crucial role in contributing to the direction the association takes throughout the course of the year.

2012 JOINT COMMITTEES - Residential & Commercial

Affordable Housing & Emerging Markets Committee
Addresses issues associated with the expansion of homeownership opportunities for low and moderate income homebuyers; monitors industry practices in the Washington metropolitan area relating to fair lending and affordable housing.

Communications Committee
Serves as a marketing & communications resource on issues for MBA/MW including newsletter and web site.

Ethics & Grievances Committee
Considers allegations of unprofessional conduct by MBA/MW members which may violate MBA/MW's Code of Ethics.

Golf Outing Committee
Plans the association's annual golf outings.

Legislative Committee
Actively involved in monitoring and responding to legislative and regulatory issues in Maryland, the District of Columbia and Virginia in accordance with association policies.

Membership Committee
Directs the membership outreach and retention activities of MBA/MW.

Works with the association's designated charities and other allied organizations to organize fundraising campaigns and volunteer work days.

Professional Designations Committee
Comprised of Certified Mortgage Bankers and other individuals with MBA professional designations; Assists individuals interested in achieving MBA designations.

Works with other industry-related associations and organizations to share information and encourage joint programs.

Plans the association's residential continuing education programs.

2012 COMMERCIAL COMMITTEES

 

Commercial Real Estate Finance (CREF) Council
The Commercial Real Estate Finance Council is composed of those commercial members looking to actively participate in the advocacy of the commercial finance industry in Metropolitan Washington. The Council provides educational, networking and charitable giving opportunities for member companies and the regional community. It also lobbies on behalf of the commercial real estate industry in state and local legislatures, and markets to the borrowing public the benefits of doing business with MBA/MW members for financing and associated services.
